Priscilla’s Power Could Ripple Across the Caribbean — Anguilla, St. Martin, St. Maarten Must Stay Alert!

By Tracyann Dunkley | Weather Watch

As of October 6, 2025, Tropical Storm Priscilla is flexing her muscles off the southwestern coast of Mexico, inching north-northwestward at a slow but deliberate pace. With sustained winds of 85 mph and strengthening forecasted, Priscilla is expected to reach Category 2 hurricane status within days. While her current trajectory hugs the Pacific coastline, the ripple effects of her moisture surge and atmospheric instability could stretch far beyond — and that’s where the Caribbean needs to pay attention.

  • Location: ~240 miles south-southwest of Cabo Corrientes, Mexico
  • Movement: North-northwest at 5 mph
  • Pressure: 1002 mb
  • Winds: Sustained at 85 mph, with gusts higher
  • Forecast: Strengthening into a Category 2 hurricane, possibly nearing major hurricane status midweek

Heavy rains and gusty winds are already battering parts of southwestern and west-central Mexico. But here’s the twist: Priscilla’s moisture plume could extend eastward, feeding instability into the wider region. Meteorologists warn of tropical surges reaching the Caribbean basin, especially as the storm interacts with broader atmospheric systems.

📍 Why Anguilla, St. Martin, and St. Maarten Should Watch Closely

Though Priscilla is a Pacific storm, her indirect impacts could be felt across the northern Leeward Islands:

  • High surf advisories already in effect for St. Maarten suggest oceanic agitation from distant systems
  • Moisture transport could trigger isolated showers and thunderstorms, especially if Priscilla’s remnants merge with Atlantic disturbances
  • Atmospheric instability may disrupt local weather patterns, affecting aviation, tourism, and daily life.

🚨 What to Watch For

  • Sudden shifts in Priscilla’s track — even a slight eastward wobble could change everything
  • Secondary systems forming in the Atlantic that may interact with Priscilla’s remnants
  • Flash flooding potential if moisture bands reach the islands

She may be offshore Mexico now, but her reach is long and her mood unpredictable. For Anguilla, St. Martin, and St. Maarten — vigilance is key. Stay tuned to local meteorological updates, prepare for sudden weather changes, and don’t underestimate the domino effect of a strengthening Pacific storm.  This isn’t just a Mexican affair. Priscilla’s drama could be Caribbean-bound. Let’s stay ready.
