UK to Slam the Door on Visa-Free Travel Without ETA by 2026

Follow us on S ocials:  Facebook   and  Instagram From 25 February 2026, visitors from 85 visa-free nationalities — including the United States, Canada and France — will be required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before travelling to the UK. This marks a significant shift: whereas these travellers could previously enter with only a passport, they will soon need digital permission. Airlines will check their ETA before boarding, supporting the government’s push for a fully contactless, digitised border. From February 2026, travellers with an ETA can take unlimited trips to the UK for two years — even last-minute weekend flights count, as long as the ETA is linked to the same passport. Minister for Migration and Citizenship Mike Tapp insists the system strengthens national security while delivering convenience:  “ETAs give us greater power to stop those who pose a threat from setting foot in the country and gives us a fuller picture of immigration. Britain Must Not Abandon Jamaica: Humanitarian Visas Are a Moral Duty

When Hurricane Melissa tore through Jamaica, it did more than devastate homes and uproot communities—it left families scattered, children vulnerable, and the elderly exposed to unimaginable hardship. Now, as floodwaters recede, another silent threat rises: leptospirosis, a deadly disease spread through contaminated water. The crisis is no longer just about rebuilding—it is about survival.

This is not a distant tragedy. Jamaica is bound to Britain by centuries of history, culture, and kinship. King Charles remains Head of State, and thousands of Jamaicans have family ties in the UK. Yet while Britain opened its doors to Ukrainians under the “Homes for Ukraine” scheme, Jamaicans displaced by Hurricane Melissa remain without a lifeline. Why should compassion stop at Europe’s borders?

πŸ–Š The petition calling for Humanitarian Visas is clear: His Majesty’s Government must act. Granting visas to Jamaicans impacted by the hurricane—especially those with family in the UK—is not charity, it is justice. It is recognition of shared history and responsibility.

Every day that passes, families are forced to choose between unsafe shelters and disease‑ridden floodwaters. Children are missing school, elders are left without care, and the outbreak of leptospirosis threatens to compound the disaster. Britain cannot afford to look away.

This is a moment for conscience. A moment for solidarity. A moment for Britain to prove that compassion is not selective.

What you can do:

History will remember whether Britain stood with Jamaica in its hour of need. Let us ensure Jamaicans are not left behind.
